The Lord loves children. He once said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
While we have Sunday School beginning at age two, we want to take Jesus at his word and provide an opportunity to mature in the faith by more intensive study of God’s Word.
We provide catechism instruction to our fifth and sixth graders on the basic doctrines of the Bible. Our objective is fourfold:
  1. Provide our children with instruction on basic teachings of the Bible
  2. Provide our children with instruction in Christian service
  3. Prepare our children to take the Lord’s Supper properly
  4. Give our children an opportunity to profess their faith and willingness to follow Christ.
Besides teaching our children about the teachings of the Bible, we require them to learn important Bible passages and the chief parts of Dr. Martin Luther’s catechism.
